PERIPERI U RISK METHODS SCHOOL
The Periperi U Consortium, in collaboration with WHO and UNDP, will be hosting a summer school styled event in East Africa which will focus on intensive risk and resilience methods training. This ‘Risk Methods School’ intends to bridge the gap between academic engagement in the disaster risk domain and practice needs ‘on the ground’.
The courses offered by this School are aimed towards PhD level students, emerging researchers from African universities as well as practitioners from NGOs or state institutions working within the field of disaster risk who are seeking to further their skills in risk research methodologies.
Week long courses will be held on each of the following thematics
- Risk Research Methodology Training
- Urban Risk & GIS Application
- Health Risk and Vulnerability Assessment Training (taught in part by the WHO)
- and Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) training course (taught by UNDP)
The school will be hosted at Ardhi University in Dar es Salaam Tanzania between 10 - 22 September 2018
