Periperi U Staff Contributes to NATURE Journal Article
Dr Ailsa Holloway from RADAR at Stellenbosch University has contributed, along with other experts in the field of disaster risk, to Susan Cutter's article 'Global risks: Pool knowledge to stem losses from disasters' in Nature International Weekly Journal of Science. The article argues that improved public awareness, rigorous risk research and aligned targets will help policy-makers to increase resilience against natural hazards.Improved disaster-risk management and resilience is essential for sustainable societies, however the science of natural hazards is currently too fragmented to influence policy effectively to create real risk reduction and impact mitigation.
