MPhil in Disaster Risk Science and Development 2026

The Research Alliance for Disaster and Risk Reduction (RADAR) at Stellenbosch University offers a cross-disciplinary MPhil in Disaster Risk Science and Development, designed for those looking to deepen their understanding of disaster and climate risk.

The programme explores the complex factors that drive disaster risk and equips students with the research and analytical skills needed to contribute to proactive risk reduction, resilience and sustainable development.

Students engage with key areas including disaster risk studies, climate science, risk assessment and applied research, combining coursework with a research thesis. The programme is structured to combine remote learning with compulsory in-person contact blocks in Stellenbosch.
